Quench & Temper

Marquenching/Martempering is an isothermal heat treatment that is used to reduce internal stresses and cracking produced during quenching.  This is achieved by quenching the steel in a hot oil  that will delay the cooling time and allow the temperature to equalize through the part.  This process is  most commonly used on parts with complex design as it will minimize distortion and reduce residual stresses.
